Pasadena Defective Earplug Injury Lawyer

For over 10 years, 3M’s Combat Arms Earplugs version 2 (CAEv2) were standard issue to military service members deployed in the Middle East. Although the earplugs were intended to offer needed hearing protection to soldiers in training and combat, a flaw in the design rendered the products ineffective for some users. Now, 3M faces hundreds of lawsuits, alleging the defective CAEv2 caused hearing loss and tinnitus.

If you served in the military and were harmed after using 3M’s defective earplugs, you may be entitled to compensation for damages. Our experienced Pasadena defective earplug injury lawyer know the complex laws concerning these types of cases, and our injury attorneys will use our resources and skill to seek just compensation on your behalf and hold the company responsible for injuries.

About 3M’s Earplugs

During active duty, many military members are exposed to high-level sounds, such as gunfire or explosions. They need protection from these noises, but, in some situations, they also need to be able to hear low-level sounds, such as commands or approaching enemy footsteps.

The CAEv2 were designed as a solution. 3M’s earplugs had two conical-shaped ends, which could be inserted into the ear to either block all sounds or block high-level sounds while allowing low-level sounds through. Unfortunately, the stems were too small and did not offer a tight fit in some users’ ears. As a result, soldiers were unknowingly exposed to dangerous noises, which caused hearing loss and/or tinnitus to develop.

Many of the lawsuits currently being filed against the company claim 3M knew of the defective design but proceeded with selling them. In 2016, a lawsuit with similar claims was filed on behalf of the U.S. government; 3M paid $9.1 million to settle the allegations.
